Welcome to
Captain Vic's Journal, a personal travel
guide for Newport explorers. The links
at the left provide a Travel Guide to Newport, including Captain Vic's Top 100
Recommendations, and plenty of photos of the Newport attractions such as Cliff
Walk, Harbor Walk, and Coastline, Bellevue Ave., Ten Mile Drive, and First
Beach. |
... as well as
some of Captain Vic's photos of the filming of Spielberg's movie Amistad in Newport. The
UBS RI Trophy America's Cup racing, a close up of the Seniors' tour of the BVI
on the tall ship Spirit of Massachusetts, and other links of Captain Vic on the
water are below. |
During his 37-year search
for summer and winter headquarters, Cap'n Vic has looked for the best, the most
unique, and the most exciting (all within the confines set up by his First
Mate of 40 years, Joan).
Settling in Newport was an easy choice for a summer headquarters because Joan's
dad was a Newport native. Her granddad actually worked on tall ships [the
Frigate Constellation and the Constitution] in the U.S. Navy here in Newport
back in the early 1900s. |

Joan runs Anchor
B&B, a neat, clean, no-smoking, bed and breakfast
here at the top of Newport's Historic Hill.
Anchor B&B is a Newport Victorian and
dates back to post civil war times and has a nautical decor. It's located just
a block east of world-famous Bellevue
Avenue. |
