| Father Ed Winsor's calling as a Episcopal priest started
at St. Paul's in Portsmouth, RI in 1958 after graduating from Berkeley Divinity
School, which is now part of Yale. He was ordained to the priesthood on March
7th 1959. Father Ed left St. Paul's in February 1961 and joined the Air Force as a chaplain, and was on active duty until 1964 when he became rector of St. Columba in Middletown, RI for next 25 years. During that time he also remained active in the Air Force Reserves. Father Ed taught at the Navy War College and University of Rhode Island in the Political Science Department, and also at Rhode Island College In 1989 Father Ed retired for the first time and took his wife and his boat "Retreat III" to the Florida Keys. He also sailed to the Bahamas. In 1993 he became priest-in-charge of St. Francis in Big Pine Key and in 1995 also ran St. Columba in Marathon, FL. In 1996 he was in charge of St. Peter's in Key West which is the oldest black Episcopal church in Florida, and the southernmost Episcopal church in the continental U.S.. He left in 2004. Ed is now on the staff of St. Luke's in Fort Myers, FL. He also has supplied at St. John The Evangelist in Newport, RI. |
